Can CBD help with drugs addiction?
CBD can be used in the treatment of addiction to drugs as it reduces the activation of an area of the brain directly involved in this process such as the cerebral amygdala. In this way, drug-seeking behavior is reduced, probably through the modulation of brain neurotransmitters.
In a study carried out in the USA, CBD was used to test if it was able to help people with heroin addiction. It could be seen that the administration of CBD significantly reduced anxiety behaviors and the abstinence syndrome induced by the lack of drugs, while the placebo administered to the control group did not do anything. Furthermore, it was seen that the CBD effect was maintained up to 7 days after the last intake. This implies that CBD can be a very important aid in the fight against drugs addiction.
